New York, NY (June 24, 2008) – EyeBuyDirect.com, an efficient and easy-to-use prescription eyeglasses site that provides fashionable, quality eyeglass frames and prescription lenses for a significantly reduced price, announced today a charity auction on eBay starting June 27, 2008 to raise money for Eye Care for Kids. The charity auction features celebrity-signed eyeglass cases from stars Daniel Baldwin and Jeff Conaway of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, Omarosa of The Apprentice, Joe Santos of The Sopranos, Christopher Rich of Reba and Courtney Pelton of Entourage.
“An estimated 25% of children in grades K-6 have visual problems that are so severe that they hinder learning,” said EyeBuyDirect.com CEO Roy Hessel. “We’re delighted to be working with eBay and Eye Care for Kids to be part of the solution so that children, regardless of income, will have necessary vision care.”
Eye Care for Kids is a not-for-profit organization established in 2001. It works to provide visually impaired children and underprivileged families with the professional eye care they need. Eye Care for Kids gives optometric and optical services to approximately 100 patients weekly.
One hundred percent of the proceeds raised will be donated to Eye Care for Kids. EyeBuyDirect.com’s charity auction is listed through eBay Giving Works, which empowers people to buy and sell for a cause and to date has helped raise more than $140 million for charity from listings on eBay.
