Polycarbonate lenses

At EyeBuyDirect, all standard lenses are made of lightweight CR39-resin with a standard lens index of 1.499, coming with a completely scratch resistant coating. Polycarbonate lenses are the lightest material available (optional), and due to its high impact-resistance and durability, it also happens to be an integral material used in making bullet-proof "glass".

Single vision lenses

Single vision lenses have one fixed focus point or correction over the entire lens area. They can be used for either near, intermediate or distance vision. For instance, glasses for driving or reading are single vision. EyeBuyDirect's standard free lens is single vision.

Bifocal lenses

A bifocal lens is divided into two sections by a horizontal line, with the upper section of the lens usually used for distance vision, and the lower section used for near vision. These two different focuses in the one lens allow people with myopic or hyperopic conditions to use a single pair of glasses for both long distance and up-close vision.

Progressive lenses

Also know as varifocals, this type serves the same purpose as bifocals but without the obvious horizontal line segmenting the lenses. It provides a smooth transition between distance and near vision, as well as the capability for viewing intermediate ranges.

弊社の優れた反射防止コーティングは、コンピュータ作業や夜間の運転に最適です。レンズの光の透過を高めることにより反射を防ぎ、いつでも、はっきりと鮮明に見えるようになります。素敵なメガネはさらに素敵に見えます。人々は、反射する光を通してではなく、レンズを通してあなたの目を見ることになります！

キズ防止

たとえガラスでも、キズが付かないレンズの素材はありません。けれども、両面に透明のハードコーティングを施したレンズは、メガネを床に落としたときでも、あるいはたまにキッチンタオルで拭いたりするときにも、キズが付きにくくなります。弊社のメガネにはすべて、キズ防止用コーティングが施されています。

超薄型

メガネを掛ける人の大部分は近視です。近視用のレンズはその基本的な物理特性から、縁が中央より厚くなります。度が強くなればなるほど、縁は厚くなります。現代のファッショナブルなフレームのほとんどはプラスチックかメタルで、レンズの厚みよりも薄いリムが使われています。また、レンズの縁を覆うリムがまったくないリムレスも大変人気があります。いずれにしても、レンズの縁は目立つもので、厚い縁はメガネの外観を損ねます。弊社では、屈折率1.57の薄型軽量レンズと屈折率1.6の超薄型レンズの2種類の薄型レンズを提供しています。

紫外線対策

目には見えなくても有益な別のレンズ加工技術が、紫外線から目を保護する紫外線カットコーティングです。紫外線から肌を守るのにサンスクリーンを塗るのと同じように、メガネのレンズに紫外線防止加工を施すことにより、私たちの目を紫外線から守ってくれます。紫外線に当たりすぎると、白内障や網膜損傷、その他の眼病の原因になると考えられています。紫外線カットコーティングはシンプルで、ほとんどのプラスチックレンズで簡単に加工できます。レンズの外観もまったく変わりません。

ティント

色の濃さが変わる調光レンズに対して、ティントと呼ばれる色付きレンズのオプションもあり、これは色が変わりません。弊社では、ブラウン、グレー、グリーン（20%、40%、60%、80%の濃度）のティントを取り扱っています。薄めのティントは主にファッション目的で使用され、掛ける人のルックスを引き立てます。濃いティントは、サングラスとして使うことができます。

Photochromic lenses for eyeglasses

Also known as light-adjusting lenses, are a type of coating that tints lenses but with a unique feature. When indoors, the lens tint will be very light and allow as much light in as possible. However exposed to strong sunlight outdoors, the lenses will get dark depending on the direct exposure to sunlight. Please be advised that these lenses do not get as dark as a typical sunglass and will tint up to approximately 60% darkness.

Bifocal lenses for eyeglasses

are a special kind of lens offered by EyeBuyDirect to customers who want more flexibility with their frames. Bifocals basically have 2 separate parts, the upper part for distance and the lower part for reading. The best thing with Bifocals is it serves a dual purpose for those people who hate changing from distance eyeglasses to reading glasses and vice- versa.

This lens is usually called no-line Bifocals and is preferred by people who don't want the line to be obvious on their glasses. They serve the same purpose as bifocals so as to provide both distance and reading vision on a single lens.
